Bourbon & Backroads was born from a simple love of wandering—quiet highways, forgotten side roads, golden-hour light, and the kind of places you only find when you slow down.
Our journey into travel began with a growing pull toward simpler living and open roads. What started as curiosity slowly became a way of life—living and traveling in a motorhome, following wherever the road led. Along the way, a teardrop camper hitched behind a yellow Jeep became our way of chasing sunsets, state parks, and scenic overlooks.
Those early trips taught us something unexpected: how little we actually needed—and how much more alive we felt when the plan was loose and the road was open.
Somewhere along the way, a drive through bourbon country planted a seed.
It wasn’t about bourbon itself. It was about atmosphere—the backroads winding past weathered barns, the small towns layered with stories, the quiet sense that adventure was waiting just beyond the pavement. I didn’t realize it then, but that stretch of road gave a name to something I hadn’t yet built.
Years later, when we traded the teardrop for a Casita camper, that long-forgotten idea came full circle.
Today, Bourbon & Backroads is where we share the journeys that continue to shape this life on the road—scenic drives, state parks, small towns, campgrounds, hidden overlooks, and the quiet moments in between.
It’s a place for slowing down.
For noticing the details.
For choosing atmosphere over itinerary.
If you’re drawn to backroads, campfires, and stories layered into the landscape, you’re in the right place.
Welcome to the long way around.
We’re glad you found your way here.
